About Drummoyne Family Medical Practice

Drummoyne Family Medical Practice presently has 3 doctors
working at the surgery. The doctors have all been at the surgery
since October 1992.

Dr Robert Vial

Dr Valli Venkatesan

Dr Denise Wallis

Did you know that this surgery has a rich background. It has been a medical surgery for the last 90 years, and has had two previous doctor owners. When we took over the surgery their was a very loyal patient basis, some patients who have lived in the Drummoyne area all their life, and now in their 70s recall that they have been coming to this surgery since birth!

The house is also very old, and is a prime example of a federation building in the early 1910s, and it has survived with all its original features intact, except for an addition in the 70s, where the 2nd surgery room was added. Recently, we have restored a lot of this original character, highlighting the fireplaces and polishing the original floorboards, and improving overall the federation character of the building. Come and see these changes when you next visit our surgery.

Who are the doctors?
Dr Robert Vial:

Dr Robert Vial has had over 14 years of experience in general practice. He is a family man with 2 children, Kiran 7 years old and Alisha, 5 years old. His partner is the other doctor in the surgery, Dr Valli Venkatesan. And Dr Denise Wallis, who works on the Tuesday, is Dr Robert Vial's mother."We always had the idea that we would like our family of doctors to look after your family. Hence the name Drummoyne Family Medical Practice"

Dr Robert Vial's aim is to advise and treat your medical problems, and not have you out the door in 5 minutes. "We need to bring quality back to medical practice, and develop improved doctor-patient relationships with our patients. Medicine has been reduced to a fast food service in some places.
This is not our philosophy. We want to know who our patients are and give them the very best treatment available by making time for their problems." This is why appointments are very important. If not enough time can be allocated at your appointment, another suitable time will be made. Walk-Ins are usually discouraged, but all emergency and urgent appointments will be seen on the same day.

Dr Robert Vial is a general practitioner, and as such looks after patients with a wide variety of medical conditions. He has a special interest in Asthma, Diabetes, Obesity, Insulin Resistance, High Blood Pressure and Anti-ageing medicine. He achieved his degrees at University NSW, and did research into medical decision making processes. He also has a certificate in Diving Medicine.

"Medical study does not stop at University. All the doctors are actively involved in updating our medical skills with Royal Australian College of General Practice, and this updated information we obtain is passed onto our patients."
Dr Valli Venkatesan

Dr Valli Venkatesan
has had over 14 years experience in general practice. She has a special interest in Women's Health including women with menopausal problems. She deals with patients who have stress related issues, depression and anxiety. Working part-time, and caring for a young family, Valli understands the pressure that occurs from daily problems. Dr Valli Venkatesan has a special interest in nutritional medicine and also natural hormone replacement therapy."Preventative medicine, such as regular pap smears, and breast checks, is very important and should never be overlooked. Breast cancer is still one of the leading cancers in our society. Early detection has a better outcome and prognosis."
Appointments are also necessary for Dr Valli Venkatesan.
Dr Denise Wallis
Dr Denise Wallis brings to the practice more than 30 years of experience. Her only working day at the surgery is Tuesday.
